[Dspforum] FSK variable threshold

For the FSK demodulation, I am assuming we do not need to worry about varying input volume levels?  As an example, my design works on a fixed threshold to determine 1's and 0's, so below a certain input signal amplitude everything will be 0's.  In a real FSK receiver, I'm thinking this function would be taken care of in an AGC/limiter type amplifier prior to digitization.  But I'm curious if this is something that could be done efficiently in a DSP?
