Subject: [Dspforum] This week's agenda
All, this is just a quick note to let you know about the plan for this week's class
First, I hope everyone has made some good progress on the DDS lab. The due date for this lab will be next Wednesday before class (9/23).
In this week's lecture/lab we can address any problems that you might be having with its construction.
The topics for this week will be:
1) DDS question / answer session
2) quick clarification of some assorted topics related to the hardware: LEDs / Switches, and CODEC data formatting
3) Timing code execution (using scope, or on-board timer)
4) (Re)Introduce FIR filtering in preparation for the next couple of labs. We will be using a basic FIR filter problem as a platform for learning about how to efficiently use the processing power of the DSP. In other words, over the next couple of weeks, we will do the FIR filtering operation lots of different ways in order to quantify the performance.
5) quick overview of filter design in Matlab
6) The "C runtime model" used in CCS.
the notes for this week's lecture are on the web. I'm going to add one or two more, but I'll bring printed copies of the additions with me to class.
the next lab, Lab3 will be assigned in class.
Doug
