FPGAs are ideal platforms for implementing very high performance DSP functions; However, the design methodology and debugging techniques are often an impediment to engineers that are more familiar with software DSP implementation. This course aims to enable students to effectively utilize the highly parallel nature of FPGAs to solve real-world signal processing problems. Some experience in FPGA design is recommended; However, students without formal FPGA design training will still benefit from the exposure to high-level design tools and pre-built commercially available building blocks.
